Tips:
• Be sure to always twist wire in same direction.
• Leave the wire on the spool while making each flower to keep the beads from falling off.
Step 1: String Seed beads onto matching color wire (each four-petal flower takes about 2” of beads on 8” of wire).
Step 2: For each flower, leave 2” of colored wire, form a loop of seven beads, cross the wires and twist 3-4 times (Diagram A). For the next three loops, leave 3/16” of colored wire in-between loops. Form a loop of seven beads and twist that extra amount of wire between each petal several times (Diagrams B & C). Once you have formed four petals, twist excess 2” of wire together (Diagram D).
Step 3: Make approximately 13 individual flowers following instructions above and set aside.
Step 4: For the green bow, leave a 3” piece of green wire, form a loop using 15 beads, twist wire two times and form a second loop around the outside of the first loop, using 23 beads (Diagram E). Twist the wire for 1/4” and repeat process on other side, with first loop, then second loop (Diagram F). Wrap excess wire neatly around center of bow two times back and forth until it resembles a bow center – make sure wires end on opposite sides of center (Diagram G) and trim off excess wire to 3”.
Step 5: Group the flowers into a bunch and arrange as desired (see photo of finished brooch).
Step 6: Place beaded bow over stems and wrap two times around stems, criss-crossing back and forth. Apply a small amount of jewelry cement around this wired area and between stems to secure in place. Allow to dry.
Step 7: Color top of pin back with permanent pen to match bead/wire flower/stem color so that it doesn’t show through.
Allow ink to dry.
Step 8: Glue pin back (that has been colored) to stem/bow grouping with jewelry cement and let dry.
Step 9: Wrap green bow wire around stems/pin back several more times (criss-crossing wires) to secure in place and trim off excess wire. Secure ends with a dab of jewelry cement.
Step 10: Trim off excess stems.
Step 11: Glue ribbon to inside of pin back with Fabri-Tac to hide wrapped wires.
