question: Your Artistic Wire is gorgeous. I have a question about the hardness. Is it comparable to half-hard or dead-soft? I appreciate your assistance.

question: Is Artistic Wire safe for making ear wires?

answer: Yes the wire is safe, however copper wire is not the best metal for ear wires, it is dead soft and will not hold the shape well, also copper is not the best metal for the ear. Because of the alloys some people have allergic reactions to some of the components of that copper alloy.

question: I see that your colored wire is permanent, but will the color come off if I put the wire in a tumbler?

answer: Permanent refers to “normal wear” however a tumbler will certainly take the color off.  It is a special enamel coating that will come off under manufacturing processes.

question: Can I oxidize your wire?

answer: Because of the enamel coating the oxidation material will not reach the wire, and the silver plated wires are treated with a non-tarnish finish that will not allow the oxidizer to reach it.  The only wire that you could patina would be the “bare copper” as it does not have any coating.

question: Are the “silver plated” Artistic Wires plated with real silver?

answer: These wires are made by first plating the copper wire with a precision layer of pure silver. Then we carefully apply our unique enamel color on top of this silver plating. The silver plating beneath the color adds an incredible high-shine and brilliance to the wire.

question:  What’s the difference between the “natural” and “bare” copper wires?

answer: Natural contains a tarnish/patina resistant coating (this should protect it from discoloration for a reasonable amount of time depending on many exterior conditions including, shaping/hammering, wear, chemicals and a whole host of others).  Bare Copper does not contain the coating and is intended for use where patina is desired.
